Sketchnoting for Students
Hi! And thanks for checking out my Sketchnoting for Students workshop series. This series of short workshops are a great addition to your class to foster some creativity and critical thinking. My goal in creating these sessions are to inspire students to unleash their "inner sketcher" and encourage them to capture their thoughts, ideas, and reactions on paper.
Included in each session are:
- A 10-20 minute guided video with instructions, explanations, and activities to get the students drawing using an iPad or paper and pen.
- Templates and examples for each of the sessions
- Scripts for you to review and adjust to meet you and your students' needs
My recommendation is to review the videos before you present them to your students, so you have an idea of what to expect. Once you review them, prep yourself by having devices or paper and colored pencils/pens available for the students to use. These sessions can be done during morning warm-up, a project or "what I need now" block, or on the student's own schedule. Sessions don't need to be done as a whole class all at the same time, they can be flexibly presented according to your needs.
Once the students have gone through the sessions, encourage them to sketchnote during lectures you present, articles or stories they read, or videos they watch. It's a great way to put their thoughts on paper and show their thinking.
I hope you find this helpful and a positive addition to your toolbox. I'd love any feedback you have about the sessions. Send me an email at [email protected] Enjoy!
